Instagram unfolding QR codes allowing users open profiles from any camera app

Instagram launches QR codes as a new feature

Instagram is now unfolding the QR code feature. Users can generate QR codes of their own that’ll be scannable from any third party camera app. It is especially useful for the business owners as it’ll come out as a new option to print their QR code to reach out to their customers which will not only create brand awareness but will also increase the following network.

Instagram had a Nametag feature but it allowed only internal QR codes that could only be scanned using the Instagram camera.

On the other hand, Snapchat has been leading in this feature since 2015. It provides a unique QR code to each of its users, allowing their friends to add them using the phone camera with ease.

How to create your own QR code on Instagram?

In order to generate a QR code of your own, Go to the “Menu” option on your Instagram profile and click on OR code.

If you see the Nametag option instead of QR code, Update your Instagram app.

There are also some chances that you might not be able to see this feature in spite of updating your Instagram, that’s because this new feature is likely to be launched in stages, so it might take some time to come up on your profile.

According to The Verge, this feature was first launched in Japan last year.
