Objectives of Technical Communication

Technical communicators may arrange the information that is to be shared into paper documents, web pages, computer-based trainings, audio, video, etc.

Widely, the ways of sharing information in the form of technical communication is classified into four types. They are as follows:


1) Written communication: Every document that is transmitted in written form, falls underwritten communication. It is accepted in the various organizations as a legal document.



2) Oral communication: This communication involves face to face conversation. It plays an important role in group discussions, interviews, seminars, etc.



3) Visual communication: it involves gestures and facial expressions, tables, and charts, graphs, diagrams, etc.



4) Audio Visual communication: This type of communication plays an important role in Television, documentary films, cinemas, etc. where audio (narration) is combined with the visual part.


Objectives of Technical Communication:



1) Information: This is the most important objective of technical communication. The communication should be informative. It should share some information with the listener or the reader.


2) Advice: One of the objectives of technical communication is to advise junior employees or students. It involves both personal opinions and advice.


3) Order: Orders are definitely required to run an organization. Technical communication is used for this purpose of conveying orders.


4) Suggestion: This type of communication can also be used to suggest the junior employees, seniors, or colleagues in the organization.


5) Persuasion: Persuasion is defined as an effort to influence the attitudes, feelings, views, and believes of others.


6) Education:  Education is an important process of communication. It involves both teaching and learning. 


7) Warning: Warning is a forceful means of communication, as it carries a sense of urgency. It demands immediate action. If the employees violate the rules and regulations of the organization, it becomes important to warn them.


8) Motivation: Motivation energizes a person towards the attainment of desired goals. The communicator should not order his employees to work but he should motivate them so that, the employees do the work willingly.
